Frequently Asked Questions?
How much of the money donated goes to supporting Black owned businesses?
The donations are used solely to pay for and maintain technology required to help local Black owned businesses to improve their Internet presence and grow their customer base. AfroBiz Advisors currently donate their time and fund all of the expenses as well.
Why support AfroBiz.ca?
Our story begins at the very end of 2017. We noticed a huge gap in opportunities available to Black owned businesses on the Internet compared to other businesses. We wanted to give back to our community and use our talent to help reduce the racial gap and help introduce local businesses to their respective communities. It all started in Toronto, but due to so many requests and demands we are now building a global platform for Black owned businesses. We believe that we can make a seriously powerful impact for Black owned businesses which will in turn make their communities better and stronger.
Are there other ways that I can support Black owned businesses?
Certainly! You can visit the AfroBiz Store to purchase goods from local Black owned businesses. You can also buy a gift card in the AfroBiz Store, order a meal for takeout or delivery from one of the many restaurants in your community listed on AfroBiz.ca, make an appointment for local services. If you know of a Black owned business not yet listed on AfroBiz.ca, feel free to
add the business. We are also looking for bloggers and content writers so you can contact us at Blogs@AfroBiz.ca
Is AfroBiz a Non-Profit Organization?
AfroBiz is an initiative started by a small team of enthusiastic entrepreneurs/volunteers. The platform was built and is supported with our own funds. We have donated our time with the sole purpose to highlight Canadian Black owned businesses and to help them become more visible. In June 2020, after the events related to the murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, many of AfroBiz website visitors and allies requested us to add a
Donate button so they could contribute to and support our initiative. We are not a charity or a non-profit organization, but we are
dedicated to making a powerful impact in the Canadian Black owned business community.
